Call for Applications for the Post of Sr Programme Officer (Livelihood) at Samaj Pragati Sahayog (MP)

Pragati Sahayog (SPS) is headquartered in a drought-prone, tribal area
of Madhya Pradesh. It is one of India's largest non-government
initiatives for water, livelihoods and women’s empowerment. SPS believes
that to address India’s long-standing problems, we must graduate to an
alternative development model based on the principles of equity,
sustainability and people’s empowerment. SPS tries to address the crisis
of Indian agriculture by evolving an alternative low-risk and low-cost
approach, reducing dependence on chemical inputs. SPS invites
applications from suitable candidates for the Programme officer of the
organisation:
Sr Programme Officer- livelihood Programme
The
selected candidates will handle multi-pronged interventions in
livelihood programme such as agriculture, SHG,Livestock and Watershade,.
The professionals need to be people with creativity, passion and
commitment for grass-roots work and should be capable of team-work in a
highly enriching professional environment. Candidate with
Post-graduation in Social science, Agricultur, Development Studies, MBA
in Rural Management, is desirable. Candidates should have good writing
skills in Hindi and English. Candidates with experiences of working with
community in two years will be preferred. Women candidates will be
given preference. Remuneration shall be commensurate with the profile of
the candidate.
The roles and responsibilities of selected professionals include the following: • Assist in implementing the Livelihood Programme of SPS; • Actively contribute to implementing Livelihood through for women SHG Member. • Establish ways of improving the participation of Group members in markets so that they get a fair deal in these markets; • Work closely with women farmers and help build strong and vibrant people’s institutions, led by women; • Establish coordination between different livelihood programmes like SHG, watershed development NPM agriculture, etc. •
Establish network with various Research institutions, Veterinary
Hospital, Government Veterinary collage, Govt line department, NABARD
and nationalised banks. • Engage with rural communities and co-ordinate work of the village community, the PRIs and government agencies; •
Assist in the development of training material to be used in the
empowerment programme of the Baba Amte Center for People’s Empowerment.
