Our program focus is to ensure quality education among children of these marginalized communities through - mother tongue based multi-lingual (MTB-MLE) approach, inclusive practices, active participation of communities, teachers (govt.) trainings etc., which facilitate in increasing children’s performance and development within the government school system.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Finance Manager will lead the financial and accounting operations of NEG-FIRE, which includes – leading the Finance function; Budgeting, financial monitoring, financial guidance to projects and ensure overall financial well-being of the organisation. S/he will develop and implement robust financial policies, systems and processes; ensure tax and regulatory requirements and controls; based on sound financial practices. He/She will uphold the values of honesty, transparency, accountability and respect for all to the highest degree.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the financial operations of NEG-FIRE and ensure timely and accurate financial reports including cash management, payroll, financial disbursements, ledgers, etc.
  • Develop financial policies/manuals, Set-up robust financial monitoring and control systems in compliance with accounting standards, agreed policies and procedures thereby reducing any sort of risk to ensure credibility of the organization and protect it from frivolous claims.
  • Prepare organization-level budgets in consultation with internal stakeholders and share it with budget holders
  • Prepare and analyze accurate monthly financial and management reports, including Income statement, Budget and variance, projections/ forecast, and cash flow.
  • Prepare and finalise the Balance Sheet
  • Ensure full compliances with the FCRA, FEMA, Income Tax Act, and other applicable laws of the land, and legal aspects in relation to the organization.
  • Ensure organizational internal controls and systems are maintained and adhered to; Identify key risk areas and ensure these are addressed.
  • To plan and coordinate audits of NEG-FIRE projects, and submit timely reports to the Executive Director, Finance committee and the Board on the internal controls.
  • Donor communications related to financials of various Grants. Ensure that all financial reporting is completed on time and submitted to donors, as per the Grants guidelines.
  • Interface with Treasurer and Finance Committee in all financial matters, as and when required
  • To guide and train project staff in maintaining good financial and accounting practices in compliance with the statutory requirements.
  • Preparation and consolidation of Annual Budgets and Financials for placing before the Governing Board as per requirements.
  • To ensure MIS preparation and share with stake holders within specified time so that financial information will be used for decision making in future planning.
  • Managing bank accounts and overseeing money transfers between national office and regional offices.
  • Ensure uninterrupted Cash flow as per the requirement of Organization in implementing the program as per its vision.
  • Any other task/s assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:
 
  • Must be Post Graduate in Commerce / CA-Inter / MBA in Finance from a reputed institution. Chartered Accountant (CA) with at least 5-6 years of work experience in an NGO will be desirable.
  • Must have 8-10 years of experience, out of which minimum 5 years in senior management position leading Finance function of NGOs /INGOs.
Knowledge and Skills
 
  • Extensive knowledge about statutes such as FCRA, FEMA, Income Tax, Professional Tax, Labour Laws, etc., and its applicability in particular to the NGOs.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles, procedures and practices of accounting and maintenance of financial records and transactions.
  • Computer Savvy and ability to manage complex processes. Must be well conversant with Tally ERP; MS Office Suite especially advanced skills in MS Excel for handling MIS and generating other financial reports
  • Ability to meet stringent reporting deadlines. Track record of undertaking a range of tasks simultaneously, adherence to time lines and ensuring delivery of quality reports on finance and accounting
  • Result oriented and ability to suggest solutions to complex problems
  • Flexible attitude towards changing priorities and ability to multi-task.  
  • Proven skills in team management with prior experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with various counterparts by maintaining positive working relationships.

Travel Requirements: The job holder is required to travel to project sites for financial review in the field and supporting the implementing team in financial matters.
