Responsibilities:
Prepares proposals by determining concept; gathering and formatting information; writing drafts; obtaining approval.
Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; studying requests for proposal (RFPs); attending strategy meetings.
Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information; coordinating submissions and collections; identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation; writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
Prepares presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding; coordinating printing.
Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
Obtains approval by reviewing proposals with key providers and project managers.
Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate; implementing changes.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A/B.S) in related field or equivalent
Post Graduate Degree / Diploma in the areas of social development is desirable
Experience:
Around 2-3 year’s experience in grant writing with a successful track record for securing significant multi-year commitments from donors to support development sector initiatives
Superior knowledge of and proven experience writing proposals to large corporate, foundation and government donors, and an understanding of technical and financial requirements for large grants
Excellent writing skills with the ability to tell stories and leverage scientific data for strong proposals
Knowledge of fundraising information sources
Essential Skills:
Strong written communication skills and the ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
Strong editing skills with an attention to detail
Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines with general direction and minimal guidance
Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research
